RESiLiTE

RESiLiTE

RESiLiTE (short for Robust, Economical, Silicon‑rich, Lightweight and Thermally Efficient battery packs) is a project co‑funded by the European Union and led by Kautex Textron GmbH, aiming to develop a new generation of battery systems based on modern technologies and processes. The project focuses on both technical and environmental aspects. It seeks to optimize several core issues of current battery technology:

  • Increase in energy density
  • Improvement of energy efficiency
  • Enhancing the operating temperature range
  • Improvement of fire protection and passive safety

Further goals regarding the ecological optimization include:

  • Reduction of required raw material quantities
  • Reuse of components
  • Recycling of decommissioned components

Achieving these goals means making battery electric drive systems more viable for use in automotive vehicles and aviation by improving the performance aswell as the safety and sustainability of battery systems.

Air Energy’s part in the project

Air Energy is directly involved in five work packages, which are being worked on in coordination with the project partners:
  • Requirements definition
    • automotive sector
    • aviation
    • specific requirements of the project
  • Development of a system for validating performance
  • Specification of requirements for extreme environmental conditions
  • Systems integration and component development
  • Manufacturing, assembly and integration of the battery system
The main task will ultimately be to assemble the battery pack. This includes welding the battery cells with the cell connectors made of copper, which is one of our core competencies. In addition, busbars must be installed and the high-voltage components must be connected according to the specifications.
